I am probably a week or 2 away from firing up the 6 liter in my Beaumont. I have made up a timing map for the initial start up on my laptop.
Does the msd box need to be powered up to transfer from the computer to the box?
Is it as simple as I am thinking, just connect to box, hit transfer from pc to msd box button and it is done?

Just like a computer, the MSD box needs power and ground to do anything...

Key on, engine off.
When you transfer the info you'll get that little bar showing progress. Just takes a few seconds.

If you have a 12V adapter laying around the house you can hook it up to the box and program it in your family room.
