Default Gm Performance Oil Pan problems

Has anyone ran into a problem using the oil pan made by Chevy performance? We purchased one and our engine builder checked the clearance between the pan bottom and the pick up screen. There is a difference of over an inch. From block bottom to bottom of pickup is 6 inches and the pan bottom is 7.75 inches. Just wondering what others have found.

Are you using the pickup that's meant for that pan? That's a big difference in depth. Eric L

hey Bill thanks for the info. Problem is we already had this one at the machine shop. Now trying to get another one to fit and Gm Performance says they have never had this problem.

I would tell GM Performance that they have this problem now, lol. Maybe your pickup tube was mis boxed from the manufacturer. It happens. Sounds about the same depth (the pan that is) as a truck setup. You could try one of those. Just some thoughts. Eric L

This is for our Nova not our race car though. Bad thing is we are prolly going to have more power in this combo than the Camaro. Is there a way to hook up mechanical water guage instead of electric.

I drilled and tapped the hole in the head to accept a mechanical adapter. You don't open the existing hole up much at all. No leaks, no problems. Eric L

I drilled my head to screw the adapter in. Just dont do like me and drill it in car. I forgot to do it first. Be much easier out on the bench or engine stand. they make adapters, but some say they are thin and break easy and the probe isnt actually up in the head much
