i too am working in an oversized 2 car garage. so far it is good enough, and i think with some well thought out storage solutions i'll be fine for a long time. my yard is basically a hill from the street upwards to the rear of the lot and no way to put a larger shop in without having an engineer come lay out the lot in such a way that i wouldn't have drainage issues. personally i'm thinking of a building off site, but that's way off in the future, lol. a 3 car garage would be fine, but something like a 40x60 would be ****.

It definately gets tight quickly. The garage I built my 73 in when I lived in AZ was a very small 2 car (18ft wide by 19ft deep). I had my TA and the Camaro parked in there. I would pull the TA out and move the Camaro to the center each time I worked until I finally got fed up and put the TA in storage. The other part that sucked was that we had no basement (AZ) so all the Christmas decorations, etc were stored along the walls on shelving. It was TIGHT! I'd love to have the shops that my buddies have, but this 3-car is a HUGE improvement over what I'm used to for sure.

Funny thing is I have no real reason to leave what I have now. It is really efficient, but moar power is always calling. I can not wait.

You will love not having a distributor to mess with. However you are a long ways from optimizing what you have. That engine has 906 heads on it? They are usually the ones with the hardened seat (they flow a little less on the exhaust side). Look through the site here at the LT1 cams for sale and get rid of that baby elgin cam. At .480 lift presently I would think you already have the guide bosses milled down and PC seals. Hopefully even screw in studs. If nothing else pin them. A 274 xtreme or bigger would pick what you have currently up. Remember a lot of the LT1 cams list 1.6 rocker lifts so you need to reduce it to 1.5 numbers if you have 1.5's.

What rpm stall do you have?

I would not spend another dime on that Gen 3 motor. I would just save up for the LS.

LOL. I don't strongly disagree. However at $125.00 for a cam (around here used or even on ebay) and IMO he has a little to mild of a set-up as it sits. What he has listed is a good truck engine lol with decent torque.

The RPM capabilities and power up top will be an eye opener when he finally switches over for sure

Cool GTA! I had a white 88 GTA back in 99 when I lived in Florida. I had big plans for that car until it got rear-ended and totaled. The insurance money from that accident served as the down payment for my 99 TA that I still have today.

it's worth saying that he mentioned the car was "efficient", not "optimized". 12.oooohss at 110 mph is very efficient. not "stock eliminator" efficient, but way better than most guys even on this site. 1.58 60'....how many bottom 12 second cars do you see going that quick to the 60? lol.

this engine has some "issues" that i won't go into as it's quite the long story. nothing wrong reliability wise, but would need a full valvetrain revamp, and that will easily cost a good chunk's worth of the ls swap...so...swap swap swap!

I'll contribute to the randomness. The pics of Capitol brought back this memory. I twisted my first drive shaft at Capitol back in 2004 or 2005.

You know the best part? I had driven the car up there from Woodbridge VA. In my panic I started walking through the staging lanes asking other 4th gen owners if they knew where I could find a drive shaft in a hurry. Turns out, one guy who only lived 10 minutes away had a spare laying at his house. AND.....unbelievably....it already had a 1350 cross joint installed in it to work with my Moser 12-bolt! To top it all......this guy who I had just met let me borrow the drive shaft to get myself home. Thank God for hot rodders! That dude saved me one hell of a towing fee. I ultimately sent him a check and bought the drive shaft from him.
