Thumbs up ATK LQ/LS 408CI Carbed Build

We have the privilege of doing this build for a fellow LS1Tech member. After our talks and getting an understanding of what our customer is using the vehicle for we came up with this combination and it will be hitting the dyno soon! This truck is going to be used for Off-roading @ the dunes + driven frequently, this is why we had a good buddy and well known cam grinder spec the cam for the customers usage. We will post up final numbers and a video when it happens.

Do you use King bearings for all your LS builds?

Did you put any kind of timing chain dampener on there? Looks like that block is drilled for one. My block was not drilled. I had to use the trick flow adapter. Do you know which iron blocks are drilled for them and which aren't?

I jugs don't like a painted oil pan. Unless it's black.

LOL. Listen to the two interior decorator moderators. You got a great build in front of you and you two are concerned about the color.

queer eye for the race guy i just don't dig orange. except for the racetruck in my sig. it looks sick orange. made a good looking block look like it was assembled in a junk yard by bubba and zane lol. it would look nicer with the factory black block with black covers IMO.

rant aside, i cant wait to see this one run!

Your truck cannot outrun 7.62x39. Lol

I don't car about what color the engine is, but a aluminum part should be natural or black.

And a black block? Not so easy for finding leaks. Lol

To each their own...we think it looks great! She's on the dyno and will have numbers shortly. This 408 is not meant to be a high HP/RPM engine, but a TQ monster for the dunes where the truck will see a lower RPM range. It will be interesting to see what she does!
