Default intake portingand smoothing ?

Im fixing to do some more intake and head porting. the question is will it hurt to super fine polish the runner and in the heads,, this is race only car. I know people run sheetmetal intake's,, and ill be on e85.... Would you think this would hurt any?

If fuel enters from top center of a carb style intake, it will hurt if you polish the intake runner cuz' fuel will then stick to the runner walls. If fuel is injected in the EFI stock location (entrance of head runner), it will help if you polish the intake runner, leave the head runner alone.

I wouldn't polish the runners inside. Most times I don't even sandpaper after porting.

I have been porting and polishing Heads and Intakes for the last 40 Years . Carb or Injected I make them smooth , the shinier the better . I've heard all the arguments about fuel puddling and so on , frankly I think it's bullshit . Until I see a back to back dyno test that proves otherwise, I'll continue to make em shine.

Intake side needs to have a bit of a texture. I usually finish with either a 40 grit or 60 grit roll, depending on what I'm doing. Fuel puddling is in the design of the manifold, not the surface finish. I've seen a few pro stock manifolds and none of them are shiny and smooth.... in the runners
