Sand Rail Engine Build Help OK so right now my 4 seater sand rail has a 95 Northstar 4.6.
So around 280hp and 300tq. The car weight is under 2k lbs.
Im not in the market to win races. The motor I have now has a bad head gasket and wanting to build an engine over the summer for next dune season. I have decided to build this as cheap as I can due to other projects and wife. I have a MSD 6012 box already and a Predator carb I'm going to run on this. The motor now lives in the 2-6500rpm none stop. I would like to build a 4.8 or 5.3 truck motor. I kind of want to keep my tq curve higher in the rpm over the truck cam due to the Mendi 2d trans. So here are the grand questions I'm looking for
Which cam? I really like the loopy idles
Carb Intake?
I want to keep this low budget. I will do some porting work and polish the head and pistons.
Im buying used parts or parts at lower prices to help cut price.
What is everyones .02 on this.
