Default Mud Motor lq4

I have a mud truck Im wanting to build a LS for. This will be my first LS based build.

Right now my 4000 pound truck has a 406 sbc 12to1 compression, dart 215s, with a solid roller, th400 with a 4200 stall and 4.10 gears.

Im starting to get my stuff together. Im wanting to use l98 heads, big cam, stock crank with new rods and pistons. I want at least 12 to 1 compression. I just cant find any high compression pistons that are compatable with the l98 heads. Is the only was to get compression lots of decking and machinig?

Any recommendtion on a cam would be great. Any other info you think i should need to know would be great.

Here is a you tube video of my truck this is how I race and how we race Here in Iowa.

Man that looks like fun!

As for the pistons, I know that JE will make you anything you want. Are you pressed for time?

Went from a 406ci solid roller SBC to an LQ4/LS3 heads combo.....a lot less cam in the LS, and going faster right off the trailer (more tuning needed).
I will say you're going in the right direction

BTW, miss the old Mudder days....lol. Had a 74 K5 on 38's with 6" suspension lift. But I break a lot less parts now

Im not pressed for time at all my 406 only has one season on it.

I think I Found the pistons Im gonna use they will be Wiseco K0044X1 or K447X3. Depending on what the machine shop says what my block is at.

I know the K0044x1 is cut for the l92s but the other piston offers more compression. So undecided there still not sure on what rod to use seems the compstar is very popular.

I use to break alot of parts I went to a Dana 60 front is heavy but I dont break at all any more.
