Stick with the EFI, IMO. More accurate, better mileage, maybe more power, increased drivability, and decreased emissions. What's not to like? After working with EFI for a while, I'll never go back to a carb.

I have a ton of info in here, covering carb application for frequent questions. Think there is some of this as well:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/carburete...need-know.html

The carb is simple. And can pull as good of mileage as EFI or right behind it. All in the tune and setup. And power? Carb will always make more power over conventional EFI.

Just depends on how you want to do things and your capabilities or the people helping.

My toys are all older and keep carb setups. Daily driven and all, zero issue. It's when they sit over and over that the carb can gum up a bit from the ethanol on today's fuel.

And when you whoop someone's *** with a carbed engine, you get to laugh and tell them a junky old out dated carb setup just drug that ***.

Fuel Injection and having the computer control the transmission has quite a few advantages for a car that logs a lot of miles. If you are a guy who is going to pay somebody to program and tune the car once and then just drive it, then the fuel injection can be nice. Or if you are a guy who knows how to program ECUs then you are golden.

If you are a guy who likes to work on all of his own stuff and knows carburetors, then I would say stay carbureted. I did not want to learn to program and ECU nor did I want to chase around a pimple face kid to do it for me at $500 a pop. LOL I tend to make a lot of changes to my car and tinker. I don't have to worry about paying somebody to re-tune the car every time I decide to change something.

That is kind of the rub. There are companies that make stand alone trans controller like TCI, but I have no experience using them. I run a TH200-4R

The fast EZ TCU trans controller can control your 4L60, but I highly suggest a 4L80 if your going to abuse it.

Gotta love the look of a carb and big round air cleaner in an old nova too.

Might want to consider some type of wideband to help you dial in the carb tuning.

Are there any alternatives to controlling a 4l60e without that $600 ez kit?? Should I ditch the trans for a 700r I defiantly want overdrive and I don't want to hack up my tunnel to do it. Maybe staying fuel injected is a better option for me all though the fuel pump and tanks will probably cost a fortune too

The 200R4 is a smaller trans that is able to handle a ton of power and not require hacking up anything I think

I know there is a 200$ manual trans controller box I use on my 4L80 transmissions so call jakes transmissions and see if they can do the same for a 60. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
