Default Thompson performance 'power blast plate'

Ive been out of the game for a while but I just came across this on Facebook. Has anyone seen it? Seems like a good idea but I wonder how it fairs in the real world. Interesting none the less.

Skip ahead to about 4:30 mark in the video if you don't want to watch the entire thing.

Snake oil ?

May help someone un-tuned, but in a tuned application....doubt it.

All its doing is affecting the pump shot. But they TRY to make it sound like the pump shot is responsible for fuel delivery throughout the entire rpm range

Correct me if I'm wrong, but how would a more atomized pump shot give you higher numbers on a dyno? The dyno is just reading the overall force against it. Ultra tuning your pump shot could give you a slight increase in power during a quick rev, but your peak numbers would be the same due to jetting.

It is only changing the initial hit to the throttle. I would imagine it would help ok a large carb with a smaller engine cube. Nothing huge, but a little better. And I'm only thinking there is a chance.

Might be interesting to its effect on the 60' on a foot brake car.

I agree its a bandaid for a properly tuned carb but I wonder if it has a place when it comes to clean transient throttle conditions and driveability on the street/fuel mileage.
