Default dyno numbers 6.0/317 heads

Buddy got his motor on the dyno today. It is a 6.0. LQ4 or 9, not sure. It has 13-1 compression, will be run on alky. The heads have been milled and had some other work. Not sure on all of it. But......On the 1st pull, on gas, it made 584 on only 27 degrees timing. They changed it over to alky now and the 1st pull it made 605 and 516 tq. I was pretty excited seeing as how most involved thought in was only going to make mid 500. They are still on the dyno now trying some more things. Im hoping it peaks closer to 650 when done. I thought it was pretty good for some 317 heads.

Super Vic. Cam is comp custom. I'd have to look up specs. I think what helped it was 13-1 comp.

I'd have to agree compression helps but I've seen some guys say not that much but it's only 1.25 more than some guys have in pump gas motors.
The local guys by me with a Superflow engine dyno always see a good increase on alcohol though which had me give it some thought but it's kind of a pita

Totally interested in the amount of RPM and cam specs. That's strong for unported 317s.

Car only went 6.4s at about 102 mph. He says the timing is on 28, it lost power after that on dyno. I ask him if it comes in quick, or how its setup, he couldn't tell me. I told him he needs to go to test and tune and try some adjusting. Im not sure how the Daytona box works, is it similar to the 6012 as in I can add dots or????? to move timing? He didn't have lap top at track. He said the dyno guy couldn't go up more on timing because it was hard to start, so that tells me he brought it all in maybe too quick. I told him he may be able to drop a couple degrees up top to try and make more power.

Mustang. About 31-3200 lbs. I think it needs timing adjusted. I haven't looked at his graph, because its a Daytona, and not sure how they work. Plus, hes one of them, if you touch it, your committed to it at the track and you don't have time to race kinda guys. lol

lifter went down.....took out cam. Its at shop again to be fixed. Maybe it was a problem from the get go. We will see. It only had about 150 runs on it.

Thanks. I take it youre Dennis King. I referred him to you on facebook for his smartspark. I have a 6012, but it was before the smartspark was out. I really wish I had one, the options it has seem much better than msd. I haven't had any trouble from my 6012, except for being wired wrong inside the box having cylinders 2 and 4 mixed up.
