Default RPM Surge And Idling Issues?

I was in bumper to bumper traffic heading home and then all of sudden my RPM shot up to 2500 rpm in traffic. When you apply the brake, the RPM idling would drop down to 1500 rpm. When you take your feet off the brake, the ride will take off back to 2500 rpm and drive itself.I had my converter redone and thing was little cool but it still had that high rpm surge and rough idling. If it's not the converter, what else might cause this high rpm surge and rough idling. My ride is a 02 Camaro SS fully built motor.

All that just happened suddenly and you didn't throw a single code of any kind? 2500 is a hell of a jump from standard idle. When did you have the torque converter redone?

No kind of code popped up or anything.I had the converter redone in March of last year by a site sponsor. Now the converter is hanging at 1500 rpm and at a dead stop the rpm idling to 1000 rpm. When you just tap on the gas,the rpm shoot up to 1500 rpm and the car will drive itself with my feet off the accelerator. If you're going up a steep hill and the odometer reading 0 mph,the rpm is hanging at 1500.(2) months after i had my converter redone,my motor took a dump.
