86 Camaro Iroc-Z vs 86 Monte Carlo SS
Sorry if this isn't the right forum to place this thread, I'm new here.
Anyhow, I'm looking to purchase a car and I need opinions and or reviews on the 86 Camaro Iroc-Z and the 86 Monte Carlo ss.
Here are links to the vehicles I'm interested in buying.

Which in your opinion is the better overall buy? I've talked the man with the Iroc down to giving it to me for $5800. As you see the vehicle has 53,000 miles on it, and is in excellent condition. The small door ding on the side will be taken out before purchase. The interior is great, and doesn't have a single blemish.
The Monte Carlo ss, is equally if not more so impressive. The car is currently at $4000, but I can buy it now for $4900. That on top of shipping will make it around a $5600 purchase. It has a new paint job, and only has around 45,000 miles on it. The interior is fine, although imo it's sort of ugly.
Anyhow I'm sure there are people on these boards that know much more about cars than I do. Which is the better purchase in your opinion, and why?

IROC might be worth more in 20-30 years. IROC has TPI which will be better on gas mileage and a little better throttle response. The Monte looks really clean and is pretty rare with the t-tops. It's pretty equal basically comes down to which one you would rather have. If you want an IROC I would look for one with a 350 TPI instead of the 305. The Montes were only available with a 305 TBI.

my 86 iroc only had a 85 speedo. it had the TPI 305 and handled corners with the best of them. it wasn't all that fast in a straight line by todays standards though.

They both look very nice.
In the long run, I think the IROC my be worth more money down the line for what it's worth.
I would be persistant on asking these people about the "actual" car mileage and not what's on the odometer. I would get a carfax on the car you are interested in as well before purchasing. You can also hire a car appraiser to look at the car for you. They drive it and go over it to make sure it is worth the money to make sure it is in working order and can even send you high resolutuon pictures of the car to your email.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

And to the OP, go hit up thirdgen.org and post that u want to buy a Thirdgen camaro, youll find plenty of nice 350 powered cars in your price range.....I saw a good running 350 TPI 89 sell for 1k the other week just needed the ground fx and a paint job, u could have snatched it up and dumped 4k in it and had one hell of a ride.....

Yea OP the deals are definately out there I just bought an 86 IROC with a 355/T5 for 1700! I know its not an original powertrain but the car and interior is in good shape (needs new paint) and its a hell of a lot more fun to drive than a 305! Thats really a toss up between the two, those are two of my favorite cars of all time (GNX edges on the monte slightly) If you are going for comfort I'd pick the Monte all day over the IROC but for overall badassedness I had to go with the IROC.
Id do what someone else recommended and hit up thirdgen.org's classifieds, there are always sweet cars and good deals on there.
