70-72 are the desirable second gens. The following for them has grown in the recent years due to the popularity of the first gens. Those early year second gens are starting to match the first gens in price. I will always prefer the first gens over any other year. I`m biased though having owned 3 and still own a 67 rs/ss 350

I have two first gens, a verte and a coupe. I had for a very short time a 73 that I wish i could have kept my hands on. I don't see too many 70 to 73's where I live (RI) but would consider parting with one of my first gen's to do a second gen build.

My first Camaro was a '70 followed by an '81,'80, '79, '81, '78 and my '98. So I have a soft spot for 2nd Gens, Besides they are a good bang for the buck.
You can still pick up a driver for little money, and a big block fits with no problem. I love a nice 1st Gen. but there not worth the entry fee (to me).
$15-$20k for a decent driver.

2nd gens are my favorite. Especially the split bumpers. But, I like all the 2nd gens, even the "rubber" bumpers.

78-81 2nd gen. I've had 2 and miss them both, especially the under the hood clearance. the 4th gens really suck at it.

I like the first gen. but where i live u see way more of them than any second gen. Didnt the 70 z28 have a full bumper. I like the full bumper, but at the same time i like the z28 logo and motor options. As for the 74-92, I call that the gen.x because most are not so impressive, but that being said i have owned one and when they are hot they're hot. 80 z28 my first car. didnt last long and i busted 3 pistons, but it was a fun car.

There was no 70 Z28, Chevrolet had production problems with some of the parts so by the time they actually came out they were called 70 1/2. From what i understand you could get either a split bumper or a full bumper. 70-73 pretty much looked the same, in 74 they went to the nasty looking front bumper. I prefer the 69 Camaro over all but that's just because i own one.

A late production 69 Z28 could be considered a 70 since they made the 69 half way into the 70 model year. I think they did make "70 1/2" Z28 if you want to be technical. The split bumpers were an option available with the RS option package. I love the 3rd and 4th gens, the 5th gens are growing on me quickly, but I love the 70-73, 74-81 are my least favorite. I love the 1st gens, but they are getting too expensive to even dream about, but I love them also.

I'm biased to the first gens... They will always be where it all started. If you have to get anything else though, a 70 1/2 split bumper would be nice.

My 69 was built in the 3rd week of September of 69, it should have been a 70. Don't know what happened to it's original engine but it has a 1970 300HP Corvette engine in it now. With the way the economy is now it's a good time to buy a 1st gen if you have the money. I found a Maroon with silver Z28 stripes hard top 67 RS/SS with a 468, TH-400, 12 bolt, 3:73 gears, with nitrous and mini tubbed for $27K, that guy probably had $50k in it.

Nothing else looks like a 69.

I like the 2nd gen better than the 1st. 70-73 Z/28 is my fav. Also like the 79-81 Z/28's.

My first f-body was a 77 T/A.
