Default Camaro Z28 or SLP SS Camaro

Ok I have two buddy's that have these cars listed above and i'm think about buyin a camaro and I was wondering the stock HP rating on them 1st one is a 01 A4 Z28 and the secound one is a 00 SLP SS Camaro. I would like to get into Camaro as around the town car, so if you could let me know that would be great!

Z28 rated at 310hp, 340lb-ft tq. Underrated...... 00 SS 325hp, 345lb-ft tq, again I'm gonna say underrated.

Get the SLP SS, but stay away from those regular SS's. They suck!

/sarcasm.

Get both. problem solved.

Seriously, Is the SS manual or auto? If it's a manual and your want something to play around in banging gears, get the SS. If You wanna go fast and consistent go for the one with the auto. From my experience theres nothing like a stalled auto. IF there both auto than go with the SS.

Stock horsepower rating on both cars are underated, you should do a quick search about this, it has been discussed numerous times. You said you are looking for an around the town car, so I would like to think a Z28 is more ideal for this application because of the cheaper price, generally.

The fact is that we all know that these cars all came with the same 350hp ls1. I was under the impression that you could only option the 02 ss's with the 345hp slp package. I think all the ss were sent to slp if even just to add the hood and spoiler. I could be wrong about that, but I don't know.

No such thing as an "SLP SS" They are all SS's, All went to SLP.

That being said, The SS was rated 10hp higher than the Z/28. They both will put down the same rwhp & rwtq on a chassis dyno. The 01 car will put down better #'s than the 00. There were some improvements from 00 to the 01/02 cars. The 01 car will have an LS6 intake & the PCM is more tweekable for a better tune.

Like said above, also depends on if you want an Auto or Manual. Both have their own advantages. I personally like the M6. I like to bang my own gears and have fun driving. A4 with a tune, stall & gears will perform better on the track.

you can't go wrong either way. Good luck.

You are correct that 345 was '02-only. 335 was available previous. This was before the "Blackwing" became available.

If they went to Lingenfelter or Callaway, what would you call it?

When people say SLP SS they mean one with the Y2Y option. Why does everyone always have to freak out about it and say "they all went to SLP?" Everyone already knows that.
