How do i tell if my ss is slp?
Im sure it's posted somewhere on here, but i couldnt find it. My car has the slp 'zr1 style' wheels and i always thought the previous owner put them on, but when i was opening the hatch today, i looked at the underside of the breaklight in my spoiler and it says "slp" in various different places. How can i tell if my ss is an slp

I am not sure if the "Slp ss" has the rpo code on the door, but you can check the RPO code or if you know any body that works at a GM dealer you can have them look it up on the GM Vehicle Inquiry System Summary (GMVIS) and that will have all the RPO codes and any warrenty work done to it and what dealer it was orginally bought at. Hope that helps!

This subject has been beaten to death. EVERY SINGLE 1998-2002 SS' went to SLP to be fitted with the SS equipment. If your SS got additional equipment there is an additional RPO sticker on the passenger door with the codes. The spoiler says SLP because every SS spoiler was made and fitted by SLP..

Every 1996-2002 went to SLP.
IIRC, it was not until 2000 that Chevrolet actually started to advertise the SS in their promotional collateral.
The easiest way to tell if it is a true SS it to look at the RPO codes on the door and find WU8. That is the code for the SS conversion. You will also see Z28 as every SS starts as a Z28. If it has optional SLP content (like the wheels), then it will have RPO Y2Y. Some cars (like my 2000) had Y2Y but no optional content. I'm not sure why this was.
There should also be a sticker on the driver door that lists optional SLP content. The ink fades pretty easily on this sticker, so it may be hard to read. You can also shoot an email to SLP with your VIN and they will tell you what number your car is along with any extras it came with.
