common things are the seats tear, cracked dash, auto pop of the hatch, day time running lights, ls6 intake or not 00-02

I'll think of some others.

Tansmission mount auto and 6 speed. 6 speed bent shift forks. Rear fender crinkle from hard launch with out added support. Leaking seals doors and T tops mostly, pour some water on them and see if they hold up. Power window motors.

Mostly just listen to her she will let you know if she has been treated right. Good luck and congrats. Steven

Stay away from 98 cars, the ECU is not compatible with any aftermarket handheld tuners.

Check the door codes to make sure it's a real SS - WU8 is what your after (driver door jam) and any SLP options will be in the passenger door jam on an SLP sticker.

Piston slap is common on all LS1s, see if you can hear it start cold, that's when it will be the worst. Some don't have it.

Weak rears as said above, keep the radio off and drive around windows down and listen, especially around corners.

The rest is normal wear and tear to be aware of. Best bet is to put any potential car on a hoist and have a look underneath. You would be suprised what you may find! Oh and Walmart will let you look free of charge in case you were wondering where to go!
