v6 to v8

v6 to v8 i can grab a 2000 6 cyl auto camaro for free. (Blew up) Before I do it is it worth turning it into a v8 say 427. Or is everything different and cheaper and easier to start out with a high mileage v8.

IMHO, by the time you spend the money, you could have just bought the one with a V8. Just my .02 cents is all.
