Black 35th anniversary edition SS w/stripes?

I saw one the other day with the checkered racing stripes going up the hood. Did they ever come like this or is it something somebody put on? I have only seen red ones with the stripes. It looked really good but I cant find any pictures anywhere.

Dont think they came on the Black SS but could have been orderd from the factory that way.But u can buy them and put them on yourself.

Not factory. There is a guy here in DFW with a black 35th LE clone. It looks right but then you think "hang on .....". Plate is something like "NOT AN SS". It's a V6 too, lol.

I beilieve it was an option on the black cars as well. I have the brochure somewhere, I can check.

Ummm, not sure what kind of poster you have, but the 35th Anniversary Collector's Edition only came in red.

You can buy the stripes aftermarket in any color you want. I've been toying around with the idea of getting red or flat black ones for my black SS.

No such aminal from the factory. True 35th Anniversary SS only came in red with silver stripes.

sorry to revive an aged thread, but question: I have a black 2001 SS and a factory stripe kit for the 35th LE. I want to paint them on rather than use the decals. Does anyone know someone that can make a stencil out of them? I am only really concerned with the hood stripes. The pattern can be taped out and sprayed, but the second side would be the challenge to make sure they are the same.
