Default 67 Camaro Build

My father and I have a 1967 Camaro that we are trying to rebuild. My dad has had the car since before I was born, and about 4 years ago we decided to tear it down and start over. It has been a slow 4 years because of life getting in the way, but we're making progress. Here's a few pics...

Here's the whole car.

We replaced the front and rear quarters.

Welded in some new floor pans.

Cleaned up the engine bay a bit.

Cowl Hood that is now installed on the car.

Seats/New leather

454 we found to go in it. Looks rough.. but we're gonna fix that.

Rebuild 350 Auto tranny

Well that's the progress so far! Next is paint!

So we took it to paint today! Here's a few pics I snapped with my phone.

We decided on white with black rally stripes. The engine bay and wheel wells will be blacked out, the trunk will be coated in spray on bed liner, and of course, the interior will be black. It'll be sitting on black wheels. We're also thinking about getting all the trim and anything that would normally be chrome turned into black chrome or just painting it black. Opinions please!

Well, now that the car is out of the shop and there's a ton of space, it must be time to tear down the engine!

Nice car! You might want to think about sub frame connectors with that fat block. Other than that have fun. Post pics as you make progress. Good luck.

Yeah I've been thinking about connectors also. Hopefully we're gonna get some decent power out of that 454. There will be plenty of pics to come!

So we tore into the 454 today! The outside might look rough, but the guts are in near perfect condition! Sorry that I didn't take any pics, my hands were occupied. The next move is going to be finding a cam most likely. Then we're gonna replace the bearings around the crank (not really sure what they're called) and find a rebuild kit for the Holly carb. We're also gonna try our hand at porting the heads. Not sure how that's gonna work out yet...

In any case, progress is a nice change. It's been forever since I got to work on this car, so any free time I have I want to be in the shop. Hope everybody enjoys the build!

Here's a few pics from the engine tear down.

Put the bolts, rollers, rocker arms, etc. in the valve covers..

We're gonna port the heads ourselves.

Turns out the block has already been bored. I think it's 40 over.

Finally an update! I've been swamped with school and other things in my life, but I have been working on the 67.

We ported the heads, installed a Lunati Cam, reinstalled the crank and pistons, put the timing chain and harmonic balancer on, and got some fresh parts in today.

This is what was at our doorstep when I arrived home. A GREAT present lol

Lunati Valve springs to go with our Lunati cam (295/295)

Summit Inktake. Not sure if I'm happy with it or not... we can always order another one.

Flowtech headers! I hope they sound good.

Also, instead of being white with black stripes, we changed the color theme to black with charcoal grey rally stripes. We're also going to either powdercoat the trim black or do black chrome. I guess we'll figure that out when the time gets here. I think it's going to be sick! Hoping to get the body back by the end of this month.

Thanks!

Did some engine work today. I'm glad I'm getting some time to work on this thing again!

New valve springs:

Sat the carb up there to see what it looks like.

So the 454 (or 496?? because of the bore) is slowly coming together. I'm out of school this week for spring break, so I hope to get it running by Wednesday or Thursday. We are using some stuff off the old block like the fuel pump, distributor and spark plug wires, and thermostat housing because we are so anxious to get this thing running! Here are a few pictures.

Got the collectors on. Also got the distributor on and go the wires sorted. They look horrible, but they will soon be replaced. Soooo ready to get the car back so we can put things together.

Old distributor

Water pump and thermostat housing (w/ thermostat) in place...

We are still waiting on the car to get back from paint, but we told the guy to take his time. Might be regretting that soon... haha.

Got the engine running! It's been a good day!

Here's the YouTube vid:

This video was taken before the rocker arms were adjusted. I don't have that video... But, this thing is going to be a BEAST!

No we're using a Lunati cam and lifter kit. It has a very nice lope.

Well it's been a while, and I created another thread for a video by accident.

Here it is:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...aro-build.html

As far as the build goes, we just got the car back from paint! It turned out wonderful! There are a few spots that could have been better, but because this is a budget build, I'm not tripping. Anyways, here are a few pictures!

Yes I know the front end isn't lined up haha. We have a new front sub-frame yet to be installed.

Reassembly and final tweaking is what's next on the list! Along with some wheels... but that's another story lol.
