Default camaro backwards compatibility?

we all know the iroc steering box from the 80s is a good swap but what else is backwards compatible.
i see 100s of 80s camaros on craigs list for easily under 1000 with poped motors or something else wrong loaded with parts for the taking. but i swear to god i have searched this subject 6 ways from sunday and can only find little bits of info all about the stuff that swaps to any car really

hears what i comfirmed
steering box
engine (but 90% of the time it's a 305 and poped so why bother)
transmissions auto and manual

what i don't know and can't confirm
anything to so with suspension
brakes
spindles
and other odds and ends this is third gen stuff
i have 7 scrapyards in my area and all the time in the world to mod parts to get them too work
i'm trying to get an idea of what gems i can locate to avoid high priced aftermarket stuff

For instance i found a great article on upgrading my stock rear end to an 8.5 which is alot beefier than the 8.2 on carcraft the other day and how to source parts on the cheep

not a camaro part but clearly an upgrade

yes i have seen david pozzis site
