Default driver door check roller and pin

I've been searching and researching for info on how to remove the pin that retains the roller for the door check on drivers side. Shes an 02 NBM SS... I have removed the spring and was able to just slide the roller right off the pin. I went to local Chevy dealer here and purchased the new pin and roller. Just need to know if anyone knows of a way to remove that steel pin short of torching it out and frying my paint in that area. I have soaked it with PB Blaster and Kroil. Tried hammer and vice grips = not enough hammer throw and no budgie budgie. Thought of sliding washers over the pin to sit on the upper portion of door hinge pin and then trying a pickle fork. Also thought of washers again and using a nut with same ID as the OD of the pin and tightening it against the washers and pulling it that way possibly. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!!

have you ground off the top of the pin where it comes up through the hinge? If I remember correctly the top of that pin is mushroomed from the factory to make sure it doesn't come out.

pull your fender, take the entire hinge off and work with it off the car. the door will stay put as long as it stays closed. Depending on how many pins you are doing take one hinge off at a time. Should be 13 mm if memory serves me correctly

sorry 97camaroguy, been busy with work and its been too dang cold to really attempt anything as of yet....i do like your idea and will probably be trying it as soon as some warmer weather breaks. till then i just keep soaking it down with penetrating oil in hopes it will make things easier when i can actually pull the dang thing
