Default Serious problem. Scared the life out of me.

First of all merry Christmas. So today I picked my 02 ss at the port in charleston sc. I shipped it from Hawaii. To make a long store short on the way back to savannah I got off of an exit on a tight radius right hand turn and I was doing around 40. In the turn it sounded like my drive shaft broke and was dragging in the road. So I pulled over and it all looked good. Granted I've had problems in the past with my sphon tq arm and my moser 12 bolt but this was a terrible scraping sound like a shovel on pavement. If anyone knows what it could possibly be please let me know. After I got bCk on the read I heard nothing

if you were in a turn and it was making a noise look at your front end. Something had to be rubbing. idk that's weird

Yea I know I was expecting for something bad to happen. Il look tomorrow at the front. When I picked it up they did say they couldn't get it into gear but I've never had a problem. Maybe loose or broken trams mount?

loose or broken trans mount wouldn't make a dragging noise. ease down a empty street a whip it back and forth and see if it makes the same noise. idk maybe you ran over something and drug it for a minute

check for the driveshaft hitting the loop. I had to slightly relocate my loop after having a similar issue with a 12 bolt and LG (spohn) chassis mount torque arm.

I got under it yesterday and didn't find anything loose. ^ that is very possible that the loop is hitting the drive shaft. I've suspected it before b.c in slow turns I'd hear what sounded like the d/s weight catching the loop. I drove it to work did at with no issues. How did you relocate the loop b.c mines welded to the tunnel brace? I really hate this to army btw so much trouble.

I cut it, moved it over about an 1/8 of an inch and welded it. Viola! Perfect now.

If something was hitting the drive shaft you should see a ring or groove on the driveshaft.

Good luck.

Hey guys I might have solved the problem I found my Pan hard bar bolt was loose. But I still have this persistent problem while turning. It bangs when I make sharp right turns? Do I have a locker or something? The guy before put in a moser 12 bolt as I have no idea what gears. It driving me crazy

I had a similar problem on my car. Would bang loudly when going over bumps. When I went to put my new shocks and springs in, like you the panhard bolt was loose and I could move it a pretty good bit. New panhard rod, and LCA's and its like new now.

But that still wouldn't explain the dragging noise in your first post. I'd have a shop near you give it a good look to see if everything is good to go.

Is it banging or making a clicking like noise ?

I broke a LCA once and it shifted the whole rear back on the pass side when making right turn... made all kinds of noise. If their tubular LCA's I'd check around the ends where they're welded.

Good luck

It's more of a metallic rubbing slash banging with frequency related to the speed. I know it's prob not the shaft but just imagine the sound as if the drive shaft had a lump and only made contact at that spot in the turn. Like ping ping ping ping until I straighten the wheel then it fades out.
