Default My NBM 1998 Camaro Z28

Purchase date: March 2, 2014

103,504 Miles

Here's my 1998 Camaro Z28 NBM; I picked it up last week. It has a Flowmaster cat back, SLP MAF, LT tail lights and a K&N intake. The previous owner told me the motor had been swapped. The head casting shows 241.

This past weekend, 1BurnedZ28 and I replaced the rack and pinon because the driver side seal was bad and the bellows were torn. I also had C5 wheels installed. I was trying to switch out my exhaust for a SLP LM2 cat back, but ran out of time.

I just installed my brakes today. I installed ARP wheel studs at the same time. Pads are Ferodo DS2500 (Thank you JakeFusion for the tech help and pad recommendation).

Thank you! No unfortunately I still have the ls1 intake. It's in the works however.

It's been a while since my last update. Since then, I have installed Moog upper and lower ball joints, front Strano Sway bar, Koni Yellow shocks and Moog rear lower control arm bushings.

BMR Torque Arm Installed

Things yet to be installed:

I picked up a LS6 intake manifold last weekend off a GTO.

I also picked up some Recaro seats out of an Evolution 8 from a mutual friend. I purchased some Corbeau brackets from marc97taws6 and will be working on custom fitting the evo rails to the corbeau brackets.

During the Black Friday sale I also purchased the Bi-Xenon FX-R Stage IV kit from the retrofitsource. Below is a side by side picture of the H1 Mini projector next to the FX-R 3.0 2.5" projector.

This is how the car sits currently.

During my upcoming spring break, I plan to install Hooker longtube headers, ORY pipe, slp lm2 muffler, improved racing oil pan baffle, oil pan gasket(because it's leaking) and Prothane poly motor mounts.

My front lower control arm bushings were shot causing the car to wander all over the road, especially under heavy braking. I decided to buy UMI boxed lower control arms and the K-member happened to come with the deal(Thanks UMI!). I am hoping to get a set of Global West UCA, Strano lowering springs, adjustable rear sway bar and a watt's link in the near future.

Great looking car and nice work. Good time to upgrade to the boxed a arms and tube kmember as the stockers are nightmares to get apart.

So a little update....
Since my last post, I have added a Strano Adjustable Rear Sway bar which improved the car's turn in immensely. My differential was worn out so I replaced it with an Eaton TrueTrac, T/A Diff cover and 4.10 gears.
Ever since I bought my car, it has had an oil leak coming from the rear main seal. The leak has gotten significantly bigger to the point where it requires my attention. Since the trans will be out, I decided to pull the trigger on a Monster Stage 1 clutch. I will be installing it this weekend.
I also found a vacuum leak and decided to upgrade to the newer LS6 Valley Cover.
I have also been lagging on my HID install and finally took the time to modify my headlight housings last weekend. I'm waiting to buy some flat black paint for the housings and then I will put them back together.

That's all for now, I'll update once I'm done with the install.

Recent Maintenance Items:
Front Wheel Bearings
LS6 Valley Cover due to broken LS1 PCV Hose

I bent two of my Y2K wheels in December. Upon searching for a replacement set, I came across a pair of rear Z06 speedlines and saw an opportunity to upgrade my setup. I will be purchasing a full set of Z06 wheels from a friend and look forward to finally running a square setup.

Thought I would add some of my CL finds since I was posting. I ended up selling my Recaro Evo seats because the bolsters on the driver seat had broken. I debated the DIY repair, but took the opportunity to upgrade to a setup more suited for my needs. I came across a Sparco Evo and a Corsa for a great deal, so I purchased both. Just waiting on my side mounts to come!

Here is how the car currently sits. I also raised the car back up because I got tired of banging my LT's/ Y-pipe on the ground.

Shoutout to 79T/A for my soon to be new/used suspension setup and for all your help!

Sparco Corsa

Sparco Evo

A little update:

I had a vacuum leak coming from the 3 port vacuum valve on the passenger side engine bay. Finally replaced the valve and drivability is at an all time high.

I was also able to install some of my stockpiled parts...

UMI Roto-Joint Rear Lower Control Arms
Sparco Evo Seat
Ground Control Sleeves
Founders Rod End Panhard Bar
18x10.5" C5 Z06 Square Setup

Square Setup

Ground Control (Fronts)

Sparco Evo

I wanted to see how low the Ground Controls would go so this is with the front of the car dumped.
