Default Exhaust too loud

Need some help on this. I recently put a big cam in my 2000 SS. Every time I start the car in the morning I wake up all my neighbors. I'm in the process of ordering American racing headers with cats.

Does anyone recommend an exhaust that won't be so loud on a cold start?

With a big cam, quiet aint goint to happen, but a Magnaflow catback will be one more quiet at idle.

It will be quiet it down a lot. Go on Youtube and view before and after videos of LS1's with/without cats.

A catted y-pipe and Magnaflow cat-back will definitely quiet it down. You can slap an electric cutout in the intermediate pipe if you ever need to dial the volume back up.

I run TSP 1-7/8" headers, TSP stainless off-road Y-pipe to a Magnaflow catback with an electronic cutout in the intermediate pipe. It's very loud when wide open however I can close the butterfly valve on the cutout and am easily below the sound limits of the road courses I run.

Magnaflow is a good muffler, i run one as well. It def quieted it down a bit from the Flowmaster like SLP muffler.

Just heads up,

My 1991 camaro has had a magnaflow cat back for about a year now. When I had the stock 305, it was whisper quiet. I could start it up at 3am and no one would know.

Now I am running a LS1 with longtubes, Cam, no cats, and the same muffler. The car is still quiet for what it is, but is definitely loud enough to wake the neighbors up. Even when I'm trying to be quiet.

I feel like cats would quiet it down a bit, but I feel like the cam and longtubes is what really makes most of the difference.

What about the bola cat back with the baffels? I know I can block off one of the tailpipes. Do you think that would quiet it down enough on a cold start? If so I could install the electric cut out to adjust it automatically. QTP I think.

So the work is all done and the catted ARH LT's def quieted the car down! I paired it with the Borla adjustable cat back with the QTP on the tailpipe to adjust the sound. Lost 10 hp ( due to the cats) but the car sounds great when I want it to!

Borla. Put the QTP in place of the changeable disc on the driver side tailpipe.

So I take it magnaflows are the way to go if you want a decent quiet performance muffler?
I like driving my car to work a lot during the summer but I leave my house around 5:10-20am.

When I close off the plate in the Borla muffler it's pretty damn quiet. I can post a video if you want.
