Default 98 Z28 Fuel pump issue

I put in a new F98 FPA-002 ractronix performance pump and the car ran for a couple of days but then suddenly died. Pump in the tank is completely dead but when connected to a direct 12V source (jumpered to positive and negative battery posts) it spit out the fuel in the pump immediately so pump is still working just not while hooked up in the tank. I am thinking it may be a ground issue but not sure. I am getting 12v to the connector at the top of the tank leading me to think it is shorting within the tank or there is a ground problem. I was hoping for some input on where the ground is located and how to check it or any other suggestions anyone may have.

Thanks,

Bob
