Default 93 z28 engine question

Hi there.
So I got my z28 from a buy here pay here. I've had it a few months.
I knew it had power, but I can't even barely press the gas during rain. There is souch power I will slide every time. The rear tires look great. Plenty of tread.
I met the previous owner of my camaro yesterday. He told me he modified the crap out of the engine. First he claimed it was now 8.2L. And then he said it was a 383 stroker. Aluminum racing heads too. My question, is it even possible to have an 8.2L small block 383 stroker?
He also said it dyno's at 480 HP. An 8.2L engine with the z28 setup should make around 600hp am I right?
To the guy I met: if you're reading this don't get offended lol , I'm just a little confused is all.

I am not tryna call anyone a lie....or start a bashing session....I personally have never heard of a 8.2l 383.....jus saying something doesnt sound right....and last I checked a 383 was around a 6.2 or 6.3 liter......a 8.2l is a 502 if im not mistaken

Exactly. Perhaps he meant 6.2? But he really kept saying 8.2. I don't know all that much about engines, so is there a way for me to find this out? Without going to a shop?

Im sure there are plenty of other ways to tell and someone will chime in but there is a significant size diff and even with the engine being in the car you should be able to tell by size of heads and valve covers....at least I can....hope this helps....

I am guessing it still has the Lt1 with a 383 stroker kit. Any rwd vehicle with some power is going to get squirrely in the rain. If you want some better answers I would post a picture.

Even with a 383 stroker kit, how could it be 8.2L? I mean he did say it had been bored over too.

If its still the (gen 2) LT1 engine then it physically can't be an 8.2L (500ci), the LT1 block cannot be bored/stroked to that displacement. The limit should be around 427ci (7L).
An 8.2L engine with the z28 setup should make around 600hp am I right?
Where are you getting that number from??? There is no "Z28 setup" with an 8.2L engine. If it somehow is an 8.2L big block, then there is no telling what kind of power its making without actually putting it on the dyno. It could be a poor setup making 200hp, or a fully built setup making 1000+hp.
So in other words either the guy doesn't know what hes talking about, or he's lying.
Post pics of the engine bay and under the car, we can at least try and identify what in it.

I will post pics asap.
As for the number I came up with, that was just looking at other gm motors of that size I found for sale online. I don't have any real knowledge of engines.
It looks exactly like an lt1. The guy even said "the outside is 5.7 but inside its bigger" (not verbatim, can't remember his exact wording). I'm just betting he got it bored and a stroker kit, probably did the heads like he said, but he is like me and doesn't know about engines himself. That's the vibe I'm getting.
Again I will get pics asap

Maybe you could talk to the previous owner and get more info. Maybe he has receipts or something in writing.

The moment when time lords start building engines, I'm in. I'm not sure if this is serious or not. So serious answer, it cannot be a 383 and an 8.2. Sure someone could have stuffed a 500ci motor under the hood, but then it wouldn't say 5.7l on it. Based on my personal experiences buying these cars, I'd say you probably have a stock LT1, it may be stroked out, although that could be one of those "my brother's wife's cousin did the work for me so I don't have any receipts" situations.

I'm interested to see some pictures of this bad boy.
