Default Ls6 heads vs. 853's

I've seen alot of comparisons on 241's v 243's but what about my 2000 z28 with the older style 853 head? What gains could I expect? I have a friend willing to sell me a set of LS6 heads for $350 fully assembled. Thanks I'm a total LS noob, I was running an 01' GT mustang before I got my 00' Z28 so I'm relearning alot lol!

Welcome! I'm a former 04 gt owner myself. Are the LS6 heads stock right now?

All the LS1 heads (806/853/241) preform nearly the same when stock. The casting process for the 241s was slightly better, resulting in a marginally better finish for the internal passages, but this difference is relatively minor and doesn't translate into significant power.

As far as potential goes, ALL of them are exactly the same in that regard.

243 would be an equal upgrade from any of the stock LS1 heads.
