Default Production breakdown question....

The wife and I just picked up a '99 a4 black z28 'vert with only 29,1xx miles on it. I've searched and the furthest I can go on the breakdown charts says that there were 349 made of my combination. However that doesn't say if all black '99's had had black tops or not?

Was just curious about whether other colored tops were even an option.....

I know there are tan and white tops out there, but i'm not sure by what year. I'm not sure that white tops are factory... btut tan is. I've never seen any stats on 4th gens that specify top color either, just the breakdowns that show how many of each color by v6, z28, SS, and vert of each category...

1999 convertibles could be had with a White top, a Black top, or a Taupe (tan) top. For A4 Z28's there were 1143 with Black tops, 388 with Taupe tops, and 280 with White tops. For a further breakdown you will need to go to somewhere like CompNine and enter your vin into their search. It's not free, but it is a good way to see the percentage of cars built during your year with your options.
