Default WOT spark timing qeastion.

Looking to know what the timing should be at around 5000 rpm - redline. For each gear. I thing mine was Around 18* at 5000rpm in 3 third. So I'm just trying to figure out what most are running at those rpms and what gear. Thanks

Every car will be different based on the mods, fueling, altitude, air temp, air density etc.

Noone can tell you what your timing should be. Only way to determine that is to either take it to a dyno and see which timing it makes best power or take it to a track.

Yea I'm not trying to copy another's timing setting " with respect ". I'm just trying to get a ballpark figure of what is working best for othe people. I was getting a tiny bit of spark knock around 5000-5500 rpms and my AFR is 12.5. So I was looking to take a little timing out. And was just wondering what othe people had at that rpms using 91 octane. "Just for ***** and giggles ". I thing mine was around 18-20*. Or do I have something else going on that could be a factor.

Are those the only mods in the car in your sig? Because only people with those exact mods will be able to give you a general idea.

Others with different heads, intakes and cams will be of no use for you.

18-20 doesn't sound like a lot if you have a stock headed/cammed LS1. Those Gen IIIs seemed to like timing, with later Gen IVs tending to have less timing due to better designed heads.

If you're already at 12.5 AFR then there's no point in going richer just so you can run a few degrees more timing. It probably will make more power with less timing and a leaner fueling than if you keep adding timing but also mass amounts of fuel just to keep it from knocking.
