Default My 2001 Camaro SS progress thread

I am making this thread to follow my progress on the camaro SS I picked up MDW. Keep in mind I do have a 14' Stingray as well so I am not going insane on this car all at once. This is my 2nd build (my first build turned into a complete clusterfuck fox body mustang) I learned from my mistakes lol

History of the car. 1 owner 56k original miles clean carfax Pewter/black t-top SS
Bought it from a local guy. I am the 2nd owner now.

Pic the day I got it :

It had original tires on it (dry rotted to hell) and had massive amounts of over spray (road paint)

So far in the month that I had it I did :

-new tires
-detail
-20% tint all around
-kenwood Double Din
-Kee Audio speaker package
-changed fuel filter
-oil change
-aftermarket power steering cooler (deleted factory that leaks)
-HID low beam
-HID fog lights

this is how it looks with tint, fresh treads and a full detail:

I just ordered :
-1-7/8th TSP LT headers
-Catless Y-pipe
-SLP Lid
-160 thermo
-motive 4.10 gears
-SLP LM exhaust
-poly motor and trans mounts
-TR55 plugs and MSD wires
-MGW short throw

Once I install this in the next few weeks I will be getting a tune from Dave at EFXtuning

Plan to leave the car like that for about a year

I am going to do suspension work throughout the summer

Also just did the Kee Audio level 2 speaker package with a kenwood DDX272 double din and I have to say that the speakers are awesome !

Started to do the work last night, its disgustingly humid so we were dying...

installed the SSRA, slp lid, smooth bellow, 160 thermo, power steering cooler , deleted old cooler, and took off all the old exhaust up to the headers

Friday we will hopefully be doing the 4.10 gears, and motor/trans mounts maybe the headers/plugs/wires depends on timing

I will definitely be following your thread. Super nice, clean car!! I'll be adding LT Headers to mine shortly, as well as poly mounts.

I have been eying the Kee Audio Speaker upgrade as well. I just can't pull the trigger yet... But it's nice knowing the positive feedback you gave them!!

yeah the speakers sound great off of the factory monsoon amp.

eventually I will add a 10"sub in the keeaudio corner stealth mount box and system would be perfect. but sounds good even without it as it has the component subs or whatever in the sail panel.

update:

got the passenger side motor mount in, the passenger side header in. have to do the plugs/wires on passenger side, removed the A/c compressor to get room for the motor mount so have to tighten that back up.

I got locking header bolts so i need to put the locks on. o2 sensors need to go in, y-pipe, exhaust and need to replace the rear end pinion seal still.

prob gonna be extremely loud lol I like it because a-price and b-less restrictive

Hoping to maybe get the exhaust on tomorrow night...

have to see because the rear pinion seal is still an issue so I need to take care of that before I put the exhaust in.

here you go best pic i was able to grab when I was putting the y-pipe and exhaust up tonight.

drove it to get gas and huge difference with the headers, intake, exhaust and 4.10s even without the tune. also im sure the plugs and wires make a difference

also did the poly motor mounts and trans mount and you can feel a difference in the stiffness and less trans vibration IMO
