93lt1 into 97v6 camaro swap help

Default 93lt1 into 97v6 camaro swap help

I'm new here so if I'm in the wrong section I'm sorry.My friend has a 97 camaro with a v6 and 5 speed. He recently got a 93 lt1 camaro that i think has a 6 speed. The 9 isn't very nice and needs a fuel pump.

Our plan is to swap the lt1 into the 97 camaro after we see how it runs with a new fuel pump. I'm just looking for any help as to what all will have to be done.

Can we swap just the engine since there both manual trans cars or do we need to swap the whole k member?

Also what about the wiring harnesses. I know the lt1 was still available in 97 so would we just swap the ecu, I'm thinking that's not going to work because of the obd1 to obd2 change.

We would be on a fairly strict budget trying to use what we have between the 2 cars but if something does have to be bought then obviously he would.

I have never swapped a new computer controlled engine. I have a 82 c10 with a 350 and I've done alot of reading about swapping ls engines but not lt1s.

He has done a whole k member swap on a 4th gen before and knows a good bit about them. Thanks for any help/suggetions

Also would we be better off buying a junkyard wiring harness out of a 97 with a lt1 than modifying the two harnesses we have available. Thanks

Bump just to see if anyone has any helpful tips. I've learned alot from lt1swap.com but i dont have very much experience with f bodys. Thanks.

you would need to swap the entire K-Member if the budget allows maybe look for a tubular k-member. Why can't you just use the harness from the current LT1?

I wasn't sure if it would "plug and play" being from and 93 going in a 97. And I wasn't sure about just swapping the harness and ecm or what being it's going from a obd1 into an obd2 car.
