1998 fbody ls3 swap
#3
Okay from what im looking at is the alternator is the only thing that's out of place, sitting up top on the right vs down low on the ls fbody style. is it going to hit up top? anybody try the ybody accessory drive on an fbody?

Yeah that would be good but I sold my complete ls1 so I no longer have my ls1 accessory drive. I only have the complete ls3 with accessory drive out of the y body. Im just hoping it will fit as is as I exhausted my funds to aquire this beauty.

Are all the parts new? You could sell them and buy the LS1 stuff or the parts you need to change. There is a large A website with free 2 day shipping and the best prices you can find on most of that stuff. The alternator bracket, power steering, and the A/C if you plan on running it, would be the hard parts. Pump, balancer, and tensioner shouldn't be much of an issue. However LS3 would be cheapest if it works or probably. Remember you will need different hoses and wires to get to the new locations. Upper pump outlet is on the other side of the pulley.

Thanks for the replies guys, yeah the engine has 29k miles so the accessories are like new. really would have liked to make them work. I kinda figured the abs would be a challenge wonder if it can be moved

I just pulled up a pic the ls3 Camaro water pump outlet seems to be on the other side of the pulley. luckily the ls3 corvette water pump outlet seem to be correct though. I think this project is going to drive me mad

Well I'm not sure how easy it will be to sell the accessory drive, I don't know how many people are looking for a corvette accessory drive. I will give it a try.

Look on ebay and select sold listings to see how many there are for each. If a lot then you can sell those parts there. Places like racing junk would be good also. As the LS3 and LS2 are the shortest setups GM made. You'll find a lot of people out there are buying truck motors for cheap and looking for those kits to fit the motors in tiny import cars that will need all the room they can get. Not saying it will be a breeze, but certainly not impossible.

okay thanks for the sales tip. I looked under my hood and low and behold the ls1 power steering pump is still connected under the hood bracet and all
now the ls1 had a crap load of miles should I buy a new ls1 ps pump since its off the engine? thanks
