Default Speakers

I have a 2000 Camaro that needs new speakers since it still has original and they are old and have started to rattle. I'm wondering what are the speaker sizes throughout the car. Thanks

Here is a great link. Metraonline.com shows all speakers sizes location and install accessories required for after market swaps. Or 12volt.com is a good place as well.

Front speakers are 6.5 as well as the speakers in the back seat area. Not sure of the size of the speakers in the hatch area (I completely removed mine when I upgraded my system).

are you staying with the stock radio ? if upgrading & adding a little power i really like my alpine R's. ($100 pr). im not sure of the best speakers as a stock replacement with stock head unit. think about putting 12" x 12" dynamat or equiv behind them if upgrading your stereo. just my one cent.

With stock head units, I always like Pioneer speakers. They are fairly inexpensive and have a higher sensetivity so they do more with lower power levels.

No I have a pioneer radio inside which was the one to blow out the right speaker.

Alpine R's are real nice with a small 4ch amp, I like the way the Alpine S's sounded on an aftermarket radio. Infiniti speakers are a good choice too. I've ran those with and without an amp and they produce a good sound. I used the Reference series with Infiniti

I'm replacing the stock speakers in my 2000 ss right now with kenwood 6.5 2 ways. 240 watt 80 rms. I got off eBay for $65 a pair. Got 2 pairs for the doors and sail panels. Got a 10" kenwood sub for $70. 1000 watt 300 rms. Stealth box from kee audio. 1000 watt kenwood sub amp ($100). I've installed the 6.5's in the passenger side door and sail panel so far. Just hooked up to the radio they sound good. Obviously I like kenwood. I think for the price and quality they are the way to go imo. Let you know how it turns out when I get the rest installed.
