Your car will shut off at 162 unless you get the speed limiter taken out of the computer. Tom

I'd hit about 158 in 5th before I let out of it in my '02 Z-28.

You have to have some rediculous power to pull that fast in 6th.

I did 158 + - Stock w/ lid and catback, chasing my bro's vett in fl. Im glad I dident hold it to 162, the unexpected shutdown would have spooked me at that speed.
Wonder If I could pull 6th now w/ 572rw.

You'll only hit 162.

I've been about 180 in mine, but that was after reprogramming the computer w/ LS1Edit. I couldn't have done it without my mods, either! I didn't stay there for very long, 'cause the rpms were a little too high for comfort.

is it true that the 162 limiter was only for cars with Z-rated tires? i heard that when i was debating between the black and the silver Z28s. (The black had less options and didnt have the Z tires) That was actually my deciding factor considering i wanted the black color but didnt want to have to redo my computer. i heard the other cars were limited to 118.

A bonestock SS or WS6 with the speed limiter removed would do about 168-170 mph. My bolt on WS6, which is pretty damn similiar to the SS, has been up to a radar and GPS verified 172 mph. I was having to back out of it to keep the speed down too. It would probably go 175-177 mph. It has the speed limiter removed and I have the whole thing on in car video.

Your shocked this is possible ? I'm a little surprised to hear that For one thing I didn't radar myself, MKM radar'd my car for me as they did all the other entrants at last Junes open road race in Battle Mountain, NV. at an event called the PE130. The GPS reading was from the GPS that I mounted to the dash in my car that gives you a plethora of information such as Current speed, average speed, top speed attained etc. etc. + I saw that mph on my GranatellI 200 mph speedo. I promise you that no magazine has ever drag limited an LS1 fbody at only 162 mph. My bolt on car was doing 172 mph while backing out of the throttle to keep my speed down, at 5000 ft altitude. In short, it was easy. The factory speed limiter is set to 160-162 mph and I've never heard of a mag removing this limiter for testing purposes ? Anyway like I said I've got video of it for the non-believers

damn, are these speeds on public roads? I've only gotten mine up to 145 since the roads in my area suck. Would anyone be able to estimate what my top speed would be. A bunch of people have asked me and I never really know what to tell them. I'm putting 420hp to the wheels and have 4.11 gears. Don't know what my actual weight is though.
Also, could someone post some of these videos?
