to what extent is the intake and exhaust different. is it just the lid and the catback or the both manifolds?

There is no difference in the lids unless it's an 02 with the optional 345hp package - which are few and far between.

The "ram air" goes in the scoop and swings around like a rams horn and into the bottom of the lid - just like the lid on the Z28. So it's only the hood that makes a difference - IMO, it doesn't make a difference.

The exhaust is hardly a step up as well. A little throatier, but other than that, it's not too useful when you compare ¼ performance. Again, you could go with the 335hp exhaust or the 345hp package with the lid and exhaust.

The only thing that would give the SS an advantage over the Z28 is the tires on the SS being wider (275 vs 245).

There is no suspension difference 00-02 unless it has the optional bilstein or 1LE package. 98/99's had bigger sway bars and different springs I think though... might not be true - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The only reason I got my SS is because of the way it looks. It's not any better than my Z28 was.

there is no diffrence in the SS's unless its a SLP Model. yes all come from slp but the base SS doesnt have the SLP options except for hood and wing. Both are mine are SS but not SLP, so they are basically a Z28 with a hood and a wing. Lids, susp, etc. are all the same as a Z28

I'm pretty sure that in 98 all the SS's came with the 1LE springs and Sway bars. Not 100% sure on that tho.

That is one thing I hate. A lot of people talk about the SS like is a lot faster than a Z28 when in reality they are both the same power wise. I have seen stock SSs and Stock Z28s run the same times at the track. The appearance is the only real difference between the two.

LOL i agree with you. I cant stand the mustang guys bragging about racing a SS or complaining about racing one. Its not a big deal. even if its a SLP option car wow 5-7 hp diffrence As for times. every car runs differant times as everyone knows from a 13.7 Z28 to a 13.0 Z

Do you know the code for this option?

There is no code. It's just listed on the SLP sticker as "345hp package" or something to that effect.

The only code for anything about the SS that is listed in the RPO would be WU8 for the SS package and Y2Y if there are any SLP options.

WU8 is the SS RPO. The gears are GU5. Just give slp a call or email them with your VIN number and they'll tell you what Y2Y options your car has.
