What mods would I need to do to my 2001 V6 Camaro Convertible in order to drop an LS1 V8 in it?

If you search you will find people who have done the swap(Magnus). Most people will tell you to buy a car with an LS1 already in it.

Put a Grand National Motor in it.

you got it man. The costs in both money and time of doing the entire swap/overhaul would outweigh just getting an 8cylinder F-Body. I would love to do it just for the experience, but if that's not your primary goal, just get the new car.
