Default want to reach 12.00 in 02 ss

i recently picked up an 02 camaro ss. I estimate about a 12.70-12.90 in the 1/4 mi. and would like to get down to 12flat or under.

MODS INCLUDE: LT headers, ls6 vette cam, 98 vett motor (basicly ls6), fastchip, z06 heads, 3.42 rear-end gears, 2500 stall, and ramair.

I would like to reach 12.00seconds in the quarter with still having a safe motor that I can rely on and I'd would like to stay away from upgrades that KILL your gas milage for everyday driving.

Any help, comments, and suggestions to help get me pointed in the right direction would be GREATLY appriciated. Any questions about the car? just ask.

THANKS!!
Tanner

I take it you're trying to do this on motor, no n2o or FI? Honestly you're probably not too far away from having a solid low 12 second car. You should take it to the track a couple times to get some baseline track times instead of speculating what the car runs. You could very well have a 12.5ish car and only be a tire, a couple suspension mods and some seat time away from your goal.

i have firehawk wide ovals on and they hook pretty well dont spin much at all. If you guys dont mind please educate me a little on n02 and some suspension options or anything else such as turbo or supercharger. I street race against a buddy's TA and his best time is 12.69. I usually take him my 2 links but I want to get under the 12's. also if anybody knows stuff about torque arms ect. please educate me

take ur spare tire and jack out , a higher stall would help . and work on your 60.

you can search for more info on those parts...but fill us in...what kinda TRACK experience do you have. street racing and racing at the track are an entirely different thing.

also, a 98 corvette motor is NOT an ls6, but an LS6 has an identicle block to the LS1. the major differences come in the heads, cam, and intake manifold.

first off, your stall is too low, id bump that to 3200-3600, complete the exhaust system, junk that "fastchip" and get a real dyno tune and you might be there.

fwiw my buddies 00 z28 with headers/exhaust, 4k stall, and a tire went 12.2xx all day long. You seem to have a few more mods, so put a tire on it and go to down. a bigger converter will help trememdously also.

keep in mind that with a lockup converter, yeah the mpg might come down some, but it will still get pretty good mileage on the highway

its not like you would need a big shot! people dip into the 11's pretty easy on 100, sometimes even farther depending on how well the car tracks

I say, get bigger converter, sticky tires, LCAs, SFCs, TA, Dyno-Tune and you're there with alittle practice. Lets just say you have a 12.8 sec car. More than likely, that's around 2.0 60ft. The suspension will help the bigger converter and stickies plant your current power and drop your 60 to say, 1.6. That's anywhere to .4 -.8 off your 1/4 time. I agree with said comment about going to the track and getting a baseline time so you and we will know exactly what it runs at what trap and we can diagnose where your car needs the improvement.

02 with those mods should be there, but, you have a 98 engine, not an ls6. The 02's were the best preforming engines of the years the ls1's were in f-bodies.

from my understanding of what the seller told me and everyone that saw it, the only part thats isnt ls6 is the block itself.

I vote for a 3200 Vigilante..It won't hurt your mileage that much
