Throttle Body Bypass Problems
98 Chevy Camaro
My TB Bypass hoses are leaking coolant at the T-Joint and at the block.
I have replaced the hoses many times and clamped them down good, but after a bout 3k miles, they start leaking again from slow drip to constant.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on making the TB bypass hoses absolutely leakproof at the T-junction and at the block?
The dealership says every 3k miles they will probably need to be replaced and using some kind of sealant wasn't recommended.
Just wondering if anyone else is having coolant drip/leak problems from their TB Bypass hoses.
P.S. I have an aftermarket TB so plugging the lines back in isn't an option.
Thanks for the help!

I just found a brass link connector and reused my stock hoses for mine... no leaks! Cheap from home depot for like $1 or something and reused the clamps...
For using the screw type clams you are probably overtightening.

Over tightening it.... hmmm.
Can't see how this would be a problem at all with the correct hosing, however this is probably the cause as many of you suggest.
I will try to loosen it up a bit and see if I can avoid this from happening again.
Thanks kindly for the advice everyone!

The problem is that if you are using a single hose that the each nipple going in is a different size. It's tight on one end, but the other will be a bit lose. I had no problems with mine, but what you're describing isn't unheard of. Here's a pic of what I did...

No, that is actually the AIR hose that would normally go into the factory lid. Your 98 won't have that hose. Notice the smaller hose that runs to the passenger side of the radiator. That's the bypass hose.
The reason the bypass kits use a fitting is due to the different ID of each nipple. The nipple on the engine side is smaller than the one on the radiator neck. This is what would cause the leak - too loose on the engine side.
