The rescheduled 9th Annual Chevrolet Performance Shootout (formerly the LSX Shootout) is just around the corner and it will take place at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, the weekend of August 27-30, 2015. The event, held in conjunction with this year’s NMCA Flowmaster World Street Finals, is the largest LS drag race gathering in the U.S. The Chevrolet Performance Shootout features awesome heads-up racing for the fastest LS-powered cars in the world, index-style and True Street racing for competitors of all levels, and a giant all LS and modern LT-powered car show. This is “the” LS event of the year, with increased purses in all classes and over $50,000 in cash and prizes.
The Chevrolet Performance Shootout’s heads-up classes include JE Pistons Drag Radial, Chevrolet Performance Stock presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, and Holley EFI Real Street…all of which are wheels-up and hardcore. LME is now sponsoring Street King, an index class for faster 8.0 to 11.0 second GM racecars. The Shootout also features two classes for mild to wild street-type LS-powered vehicles, Proform Rumble and Gear Vendors LSX True Street Challenge. The Rumble class allows racers to pick their index, matching their street machine up against some of the fastest cars in the country. All racers competing in Rumble and Street King may also compete for free in the True Street Challenge class on Saturday. Travel through the countryside then bring your LS-powered musclecar, truck or SUV back to the track for a three-run showdown to determine who has the baddest LS or moden LT-powered True Street car in the world! All class winners will receive big bucks, an LSX bowtie block, and the coveted winners jacket courtesy of Chevrolet Performance and their host dealer, Scoggin -Dickey Parts Center.
The weekend begins on Thursday, August 27th, with a special Chevrolet Performance Racer Appreciation Party at the Sawmill Creek Resort host hotel from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This special event, open to all Shootout racers, crew, and family, features free BBQ dinner, beer, sodas, and over $15,000 in parts to be given away to lucky racers in the free parts raffle.
The 2015 Chevrolet Performance Shootout will also feature an all-LS car show for performance enthusiasts who want to show off their awesome muscle cars and hot rods. The Shootout’s special 2-day car show will give away an assortment of awards to classes for 5th gen Camaros, 4th gen Camaros & Firebirds, Corvettes, Cadillacs, GTOs, Trailblazers, and LSX hybrids. The huge Chevrolet Performance car show is just one more way you can participate with your LS or modern LT-powered vehicle at the Chevrolet Performance Shootout.
