Lightbulb ............What is better for carb distributor or MSD control?

what is the benifit from each one and disadvantage and from where can I buy dist. & which parts are needed?

I think once you price out everything you need for the distributor swap that you will have your answer. Here are the installation instructions, and probably a list of GM part numbers. You need pulleys and sometype of adapter for the water pump

MSD box with individual coils will definitely give better performance and hotter spark. More stable ignition at higher RPM too. Really simple to hook up and use, if it works. They seem to either work or don't.

The dist drive makes the engine a good bit longer. Need to make sure it will fit in your swap. Lots of sites list kits.

One of the things I like about the MSD box is that you just set your timing curve to what you want it to be, no springs or weights to play with. It also has the built in rev-limiter and 2step. When you hook it to your laptop, you can see your RPMs, Vacuum, and timing all in realtime.
