Default ´99 LS1 Tach

Hi, I´m new here and like to ask one question.
I have 99 camaro engine in my restored jeep here in Iceland, and I´m little confused about my tachometer. I tried to hook up autometer tach adapter and did not receive signal from it. Anyone who knows a solution? I´m using cheap universial tachometer

Thanks, Asgeir

You should be able to go straight from the LS1 PCM to the universal tachometer without the adapter. Set the universal tach to "4 cyl." and you should be good to go.

You might give that a try and see what happens.

Default tach

I tried this at first, then tried another tach and that didn´t work either. Connected it to white wire, but can´t remember what number. I have to use some kind of scope to see the signal, right?

Somewhere I´ve seen something about 5V squarewave signal

Little confused, Asgeir

Make sure the wire is coming from PCM RED-10. Usually the F-body PCM's work well with aftermarket tachs, other than setting it to 4 cylinder to get the readout correct. Old tachs that are looking for the high voltage spike from the ignition coil negative have problems with the low amplitude square wave from the PCM, but that's about it.

Yes, either double check your wire location or put a scope on it to make sure you have a good signal.
