I am trying to install the harness and am coming up with more wires than sensors. (First two pics)

It appears that I have missing sensors around the throttle body. (Second Pic)

I have also found 3 sensors that I cannot find a connections for. (Third, forth and last pic)

Id sure like to know what to do with these extra wires and if the sensors are needed.

Is it normal to have the a/c compressor lead in the harness? Mine is. I suppose the ecm controls it?

Pic 1> the 4 pin is the idle air control. Need a side view or wire colors to ID the rest

Pic2 middle one is the TPS sensor connector. I can`t tell on the other 2, how bout a side view or the wire colors?

pic 4 I`m sufficiently confused, what year is the motor?

pic5 Looks like an EVAP purge solenoid, but that is normally mounted on the top of the intake right behind the TB

pic 6 This is the oil pressure sender.

you might lay out the harness and take a picture of it and which one you need to ID. It would help if we knew what part of the harness/engine the connector is located on.

MAF Connector, AIT Sensor Connector, Water Temp Sensor Connector..I say that cause it's a good guess that he's holding these cause they are all in the same area.
Cam and Crank Position Sensor Connectors..that's the only thing I can think of.


To the OP, you need to post a pic of the whole Harness and put a number next to each Connector, and we can give you the names easier.

correct. Cam position sensor, oil pressure sensor, and MAP sensor. if they are all grouped together, then thats what they are. the 3 pin flat connectors are keyed the same, so you'll have to match up wire colors to make any headway. What year harness is this? I can post up the PCM pinouts/schematics If i have them.

I appreciate the feedback. The motor and harness are supposed to a 2000 model, although the intake and fuel rails have been replaced.

The TPS, coolant and temperature sensors are already connected. If the cam sensor is at the back of the of the block where a distributor would normally sit, it is connected as well. If the crank sensor is at the back of the intake, connected via its own pigtail and female connector, it is connected as well.

I can not get any of the loose connectors to fit into the EGR (pic 4), EVAP (pic 5) or the oil sender (pic 6). Does the ecm need these?

Am I missing the MAF, Idle air control and AIT sensors?

I've read that the a/c system has sensors. Could any of the loose ones be a/c?

Could one of the loose connectors be for the speed sensor in the transmission? The harness has the big round plug, but nothing that will reach the speed sensor. The harness originally had a 6 speed and I had it converted to a 4L60e.

Again, I appreciate the help.

The Crank Sensor is at the bottom of the Block near the Starter, the Cam Sensor is at the back of the Intake, along with the MAP Sensor and the Oil Pressure Sensor.

Just looked through my schematics and this is what I found. This is just what they could possibly be.Just match up the wire colors, and you should be in business.

Finally have a closure on the loose sensor leads. I appreciate the help.

Need to lengthen the VSS wires. Way too short. Can I use butt connectors and same size wiring? Also would like to position the ECM on the driver's side but need to lengthen the cam sensor wires. Can I lengthen those with butt connectors as well?

I wouldn't use butt connectors. They allow moisture to contact the wire and it will start to corrode. It starts to corrode UNDER the sheathing, so if you have an electrical problem, its going to be hell to try and trouble shoot...Soldering all the way.
