Default Drive by wire pedal idea for 73-91 Chevys

Gary Puls installed a 8.1 into his old K30 and used a pedal from a 98 diesel 6.5diesel pickup.

http://www.hotrodlane.cc/Streetstories/81%20swap.pdf

With slight mods to the connector on the pedal, a bend in the rod and wiring pinouts the pedal bolts on and works great. Now I just need to find out if I can do the same thing for my K5 with a 6.0L. I picked up a 98 pedal yesterday and am hoping that it will work better than my 02 escalade pedal. Are the drive by wire parts of the 8.1 and 6.0 harnesses the same?

I read that the other day and was wondering the same thing. I'm swaping a 6.0 into a K5 as well. I looked at the APP sensor connector for 2006 8.1 and 6.0. I don't see any difference.

this is a quote from the part of the swap that cover's the pedal:

"
TAC MODULE, DBW PEDAL and WIRING HARNESS
This is the installed Pedal Position Sensor AKA Drive by Wire pedal.
I used one from a 1998 6.5 Diesel truck as it bolts right up and is a closer match
than the later Silverado pedal. A couple of the wires do have to be moved as it is
internally wired different. Basically, there are three different sensors in the pedal
and the PCM compares all three of these to determine how much throttle
opening the drivers is requiring. If these three sensors do not agree, a code will
be set and the PCM takes a best guess at what the throttle opening should be.
The gray wire was moved from location A to J, the Brown wire was moved from
location E to A and the Yellow wire was moved from location J to E. I also had to
add a slot in the connector plug so it would plug into the pedal.

"

I must have done something wrong because the pedal doesn't do anything. I re-wired the pedal side of the harness that plugs into the pedal and left the TAC box side alone. Did I do it backward?

The pedal wiring is specific to the pedal position sensor, harness, TAC module and year. Just because he needed to change the wiring for his 8.1 does not mean you'll need to do the same changes for a 6.0.
My suggestion would be to look up the part number for the position sensor for the pedal you bought and compare that to the one that came with the engine and TAC module. If they're the same, your original wiring should work.
If not you might try an aftermarket company for solutions.

The 8.1L and 6.0L share that same part of the harness.

Returned the wiring on the pedal end back to stock and rearranged the wires on the TAC box end. All is well now and a MUCH better fit than the escalade pedal. Not to mention that it bolts right on like it's stock.

Yep I hook my 96 diesel pedal to a 2004 tac and it was a 274.00; mistake blew mine and had to replace tac module and put the 2004 petal in the truck
