Default 98-02 crown vic swap?

i have killed the tranny in my 99 P71, and i'm not a huge 4.6 fan.

i have an 02 5.3/4L60-E with LS1 intake, corvette returnless rails, and S+P stand alone harness/pcm, F body pan, and a complete set of mounts. it's a complete swap that was slated to go into my pickup but now i have a 6.0/4L80/L92 heads for that.

has anyone swapped a crown vic/marquis of this vintage?

i had another post and was helped with the VSS problem to retain cruise control and factory speedo, and i can junkyard up another ford engine harness to remove everything but the necessary wires to run the gauges and supply info to the cruise control. driveshaft can have a gm yoke swapped on and if necessary i've got a local shop that is awesome with shortening aluminum driveshafts.

i need to retain air conditioning - the compressor on the 4.6 looks like it is in the same place as the LS engines - my uncle works at a big rig dealer that can make custom hoses.

exhaust wise i have 4th gen long tubes, stock f body manifolds and mac pipes, and truck manifolds. fuel line wise the ford filter is in the same location as a gm B body - easily accessible so i can put the vette filter right there, eliminate the return line from the engine bay back to that point, and then i'll just have to take the feed line back around the engine along the firewall as it is on the wrong side.

i noticed the 4.6 mounts are easy to modify to bolt an LSx right into a mustang, hopefully that holds true for this as well.

does anyone see a problem with anything? i can go back to the truck pan if necessary, as i kept all that. at this point instead of paying over a grand for tranny rebuild i'd just as soon dump in this drivetrain.

PatGizz, hmmmm that name rings a bell from either Beretta.net, 60*v6 forums, or somewhere in the GM FWD crowd..... Cavalier maybe?

60*V6

i had a 94 3.1 euro that first had a 3.4 dohc swap, then a 3400/5 speed swap, then i had a 93 Z34 that ran 14's, and a 90 turbo grand prix with a 5 speed swap and more boost.

no more of that, i missed my RWD stuff.

Gotcha..... I traded my last 60* in for my Vette, 99 GAGT, car was a real POS.

Now I have a 2000 GTP as a DD, who would have thunk.

As for an LSx swap into Crown Vic, its been done, I think your on the right track with the modified 4.6L mounts...

Well it shows you how to do the engine mounts, which means that the swap could be done with very little effort

Whats up .
Nice to see someone else is doing the vic swap. I used a LQ4 with a 4L80E.I used a truck pan it sits kind of low but can be shortened about an inch for ground Clarence. I used the vic mounts and modified them.I used the original trans cross member just cut the trans mount bracket and welded it on upside down And i had to move the cross member brackets back a little .Iam not sure of the 4l60 length but you should be able to shorten the shaft and use a conversion U joint .The vic has weak 1330 joints .I had a shaft made with 1350 joints .The escalade shortie headers fit nice .let me know if you have questions .
post some pics of the ride
ill post some pics of the build

Time to bring this back from the dead... Heading out in a couple hours to look at an '01 with an engine knock. It's swap time.
