| have just installed a LS1 engine and transmision (T56) into a kit car i am building ( cobra). can anyone recommend a engine oil for engine and transmision, merry christmas to all tony:

An owners manual for a 99 Camaro says to use an oil with the API "starburst" symbol. 5w-30 or if you don't live in the North pole and it's above 0 F you can use 10w-30. I heard that these engines all came with Mobil 1 synthetic and that's what I plan on using. My 6 spd has a fluid tag on the left side. Says to use Dextron III. 99 owners manual also says to use Dextron III in manual trans. Says to use Dot 3 brake fluid for the hydraulic clutch.

For the Tranny I used dexron from Halfrauds, and for the engine I used Mobil 1 from Costco (£24 per 4 Ltrs).

I used Mobile 1 5w30 and a K&N filter for the engine, and for the transmission i used Mobile 1 ATF.

Mobil 1 5w30 here, same thing my LS1 ('99 Camaro SS) came with from the factory.
