Exclamation ....... Do I need to cut my hood for carb ls1 ?????????

I will install carb ls1 in mustang. Do I need to cut the hood so the carb will not hit the hood?

no air cleaner would be a very tight fit, I'd say a 3" cowl at least would be needed with air cleaner.

A shotgun street scoop (crappy camera phone pics)! Wohoo (I'm waiting on my air cleaner spacer so it comes out of the hood all the way)

The scoop i have is usually mounted on top of blowers... so yeah high HP. It runs a like 9" round filter which seems small but its made to run dual or single carbs. It's a high HP application. I'm around 520-540 flywheel hp now as far as i can estimate. I plan on pushing to 600hp or so and the spraying a 100-150 shot on top.

When i cut my hood my 2" tall mini filter i had on my engine was only a 1/2" below the top of the semi-cowl of the hood.
