Default Hot rodder modified truck oil pan

there is a picture in the lsx oil pan thread of a modified truck oil pan where the front part of the sump is removed... I'm looking for some more info on this pan... who modifies them? can anybody help me?

I`m not sure who it was that modded that pan. It was probably just an individual person, as I know at least several board members have done it. Not too hard to do you just need someone who can weld aluminum. Cut out the parts of the pan that interfere, make up sheets of aluminum plate to fill in those sections. The important/difficult part is making sure the pan is clean enough. I have read that it should be cleaned, cleaned with some kind of solvent, pressure washed, washed with dish soap, and then baked in an oven to get rid of any oil residue. Cleanliness is very important to get good welds on aluminum.
