Default newbie nova swap

so this is my first swap i've had the car since i was 16 and it justs been sitting ever since i got an ls1 long block from a 98 ta from my old job really cheap been sittin on the motor for awhile so i finally decided to do something wit both the nova and the ls1 its goin to be a winter build but heres where im at so far its a 77 nova had a 400sbc in it

Nice looking swap car. What plans do you have for mods beside the LS1, trans, convertor etc.....

thanks for the support guys im tryin to get a t56 for the trans but they are getting pretty hard to find. as for the ls1 im just gonna leave it as is for now maybe swap the cam while its out but nothing crazy for now still need to get the harness, ecu, and accessory bracket. hey cgslow77 what motor mounts are you using?

i might be able to get an lt1 t56 for fairly cheap i know the bellhousing needs to be an ls1 what else would have to be changed to make the lt1 t56 work?

If you want to use the T56 out of a LT1 car. you will need a different bell housing.. you can look at the modular McLeod (I think B&M now owns the rights), for the most part you will be setting up your LT1 / T56 as any other SBC Trans (with the longer .400 input shaft). You should be able to go either Hyd or mech throwout bearing, depending on the bell housing.

But just look for a GEN III/IV T56 and you'll be better off.
