The life of my 87 LSX IROC
It started life as a 305 tpi,700r4, 3.42 10 bolt. It now has a carbed 6.0 L out of a 01 gmc 2500 hd, 700r4, 4.10 strange 12 bolt, custom headers, and a 100 shot . I bought the car, took it to the car wash, did a burn out it my drive way, pulled in the garage, took the hood off and started pulling the motor and trans.
Mocking up the motor mounts I made
Dont need knock sensors so I made a new valley cover
Finally got the damn headers finished
Ready to fire up
When I had the drag lites
First trip to the track
Random shots

Its a TCS (The Converter Shop) custom 6 liter flex plate to 700r4. 2800 stall, I ordered the tightest stall i could get away with for my cam because I drive it a lot on the street (to and from work) and its good for the shot.

It put down 350hp, 348tq on motor and 450hp, 495tq on a 100 shot when I had the 10 bolt and 275/50 MT drag radials. Im sure it would put down less with the 12 bolt and 275/60 M&H setup I have know only reason I put it on the dyno was to get the AFR dialed in. Turned out Im descent at reading a spark plug and didnt have to change a thing. Its 3500 race weight (Im close to 300) The heads are junkyard 853 casting LS1's that have been milled .005'' just to flatten.
Shawn depending on driver and traction yours should go some deep 11 or high 10's

Man that is a sick IROC!!!! I love those cars.......... I think they look good if you carefully pull the side "bumper" trim off the doors. Cleans it up alot. I am really liking the look with the pro stars on. Cool photography! Mind if I ask how much you have into the whole car?

Very nice IROC! A white thirdgen with tinted windows is one of my favorite looking f-bodys ever (first car I ever owned). What cam are you running? The rubber on the rear fenders in the pics was a nice touch

Thanks guys for all the compliments. Luckyhenriksen I have wanted to pull the bumper strips off for a long time but I am afraid to mess with the 20 year old stock paint under them but I totally agree it cleans them up. The cam is relatively small in the LSX world it specs out at 232/240 .595/.608 on a 112. Stock bottom end had 40,000 miles on it when I got it, pulled the iron heads off put the cam in it bolted on a set of stock ls1 heads with some patriot springs and put it in the car. I use the msd controller and the harness that came with it. I dont have a trans break and I leave at 1600-1800 rpm (converter is tight) and have a window switch for the spray to come on at x rpm. In the you tube vid the first run I had the spray coming on way to early for the morning track conditions, second run was on motor to see if the track would hook at all, third run raised switch way high, then started lowering rpm switch as the track conditions got better.

Man those are some solid times with stock ls1 heads and an Lq4. I'm sure you're putting down much more than that though. My goal was 10.80s on a cam only setup which i know is far fetched but wanted something to shoot for. I'm abotu 170 so my raceweight with a 1/4 tank is just over 3000lb. I should be putting down from 400-430rwhp as best as i can guess (no accessories, 8.5" rear). You and i are also running the same carb. Well mine will be here tomorrow swapping from my vac secondary holley 750 now.
So you're never going to consider like a 3000 stall or anything? I did drive around one of my autos with a 3000 non lock up and it wasnt too bad. I never checked mileage though since it was behind a 400. Are you running a MAP sensor with your MSD box? What type of timing are you running with?

Thanks man. Im sure if I went to a different dyno that I could pull some better numbers but I only worry about track numbers . With your set up I think it has the potential to run a high 10. I would love to get my race weight down to 3000 but I like the cd player and heat, maybe one day I will get tired of driving on the street and throw a big stall and pull a bunch of weight out of it. The car 1.50 60' on the radials all the time I want that 1.4x 60' slip bad so ya never know I might get the stall loosened a bit. Keep me informed on what it runs .
About my timing: 32* all in at 3500 I adjusted it on the dyno and 32* made the most power with my set up

1.50 on 275s? thats pretty damn good man especially for an 1800 stall. Im only running about 29 degrees looking to make it to the dyno once i get the new carb dialed in. Those are some sick videos man. Its hard to tell amd some of the pics arent loading on my browser but are you runnning a carb style nitrous plate?
