Default LQ4 bolt into a 4.8 V8 silverado with 5speed?

I want to make a quick truck. LQ4 with l92 heads and gm hot cam...

Im thinking about getting a 2004+ silverado reg cab short box with a 4.8 v8 5 speed. Would an LQ4 bolt directly in or would it be a huge swap project?

yes it is bolt in but the trans will not last in the truck.

You probably know better then I would, but if the trans can handle 295hp from the 4.8 I would think it would hold up for awhile with my modest 370whp goal... LQ4+L92 heads+gm hot cam

I dont plan to launch, donuts, brake stands, or powershifts. Just want a lot of "roll - on" muscle and a sweeeeeeet sounding motor to cruise in.

Besides id much rather have a truck that started life as a manual then have to convert an automatic over

Just add a blower to it like the special addition ones.

Yeah, there's that... but I really like the sound of a cammed v8 :-) If im not mistaken the LQ4 looks like its cheaper anyhow superchevy got one for $350 and put new gaskets in it, $800 for l92 heads, $400 for the hot cam.

The idea was drive the 4.8 for 6+ months, build the lq4 up during this period. Pop the lq4 in next winter

Ill for sure look at the supercharger route though.

ls14winter it's going to cost more then that to swap l92's you'll need intake rocker's, new intake and a throttle body also which add's to the price.

Go with 317 Heads with that Hot Cam, the L92 Heads are bitchy with Cams.

Just bolt in the LQ4. The trans will handle quite a bit until you get traction. Besides, you have more room to grow with the 6.0

Yeah then throw in a T56 when the trans blows. The perfect Hot Rod truck, cheap fast, simple, what more could you want...

I wish they were even close to that much around here. One wrecking yard has put most everybody else out of business and they want $1500 for a high mileage one with no accessories or wiring.

I can drive 900 miles round trip and get one for $850 in the same condition tax free too so I might just buy two while I am there and sell one off locally for a small profit to help fund my project.
